CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Orchestra invites movie lovers and superhero fans to experience a special event this spring, featuring the display of four costumes from Marvel Studios’ Black Panther.
The costumes worn by Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan), Okoye (Danai Gurira), and Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett) will be available for public viewing in Smith Lobby at Severance Music Center from February 19 through April 6. Costume designer Ruth E. Carter incorporated elements from different African tribes to create the garments, which earned her the Academy Award for best costume design in 2019.
The display coincides with The Cleveland Orchestra’s special performances of Marvel Studios’ Black Panther in Concert on March 28 and 29. Conductor Anthony Parnther, known for his work on high-profile film scores including Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, leads the Orchestra through Ludwig Göransson’s score while the full film plays on the big screen. The performances also feature Senegalese percussionist Massamba Diop, whose contributions to the Black Panther score helped secure the film both Grammy and Oscar
accolades.
Tickets for Marvel Studios’ Black Panther in Concert are on sale now through Severance Music Center by calling Ticket Services at 216-231-1111 or going to clevelandorchestra.com.
Marvel Studios’ Black Panther in Concert is sponsored by KPMG. The Black Panther costume exhibit is supported by KPMG, The C.R.E.W. Foundation, Eric A. Logan, and Karlie Newton II - State Farm.

LUDWIG GÖRANSSON Black Panther (full film with live orchestral underscore)
In 2018, Marvel Studios’ Black Panther quickly became a global sensation and cultural phenomenon, showing a new dimension of what superhero films could be. Rolling Stone raved, “The film lights up the screen with a full-throttle blast of action and fun. That’s to be expected. But what sneaks up and floors you is the film’s racial conscience and profound, astonishing beauty.” Now you can relive the excitement of T’Challa becoming king and battling Killmonger all while The Cleveland Orchestra performs Ludwig Göransson’s Oscar and Grammy-winning score live to picture. This is a PG-13-rated movie.
